“Some people know more about social media than others. Does that make them an “expert”? I don’t know. But what I do know is that everyone in social media is a teacher, and everyone is a student. The second you forget that – regardless of your “expertise” – you’re dead.” – Jason Baer, commenting in a post about social media “experts”.
Found this on Twoons, not so much a cartoon, but seemed appropriate for the quote today.
When talking about Social Media, ignorance is not bliss. Learning opportunities are everywhere. Sharing knowledge is too. Your posts constantly remind me of this. Thank you for that!
Some of us need to learn more than others, huh? 😛
“Friends are helpful not only because they will listen to us, but because they will laugh at us; Through them we learn a little objectivity, a little modesty, a little courtesy; We learn the rules of life and become better players of the game” – Will Durant
Love this! It's so true and humorous. In my last professional life, 20 years of experience gave true meaning to the title of expert. During my efforts to transform into a new career, social media served as a bridge to learn new skills. I quickly decided social media fit my marketing, advertising and client management skill set. Large numbers of professionals in transition decided to do the same thing. Suddenly, social media "experts" tweeted out credentials and promises to increase ROI all over the web. Social media will remain a fast pace learning experience. What's required? An open mind along with the ability grasp information quickly shared by true "experts" like you to help lifetime students continue to learn. You write about what is relevant, fact, new (good/bad), outdated and equally important, what is fictitious. The titles "expert", "guru" and "coach" are for people like you and not those jumping in the mix for the short-haul.
